There is a saying, "better late than never”. In this case, better late IS never--the fiscal damage done to the State of California, the families of the State and jobs by sweetheart, corrupt union deals can not be fixed?
1. CalPers has $525 billion in unfunded liabilities--that does not change.
2. The agreements in affect today can not be changed--the people of California can not roll them back.
3. It is up to the "goodwill" of unions if changes can be made in the future--or the voters, if a measure can get on the ballot.
At some time, hopefully this year, we will have a new budget. Still, that does not solve the long term problem we face due to the increasing percentage of the budget, local, county and State that goes toward the pensions.
We are in trouble and the Legislature is acting like this is a resolution commending a winning sports team.
