The unions have gone crazy. They have a plan to raise taxes by $40 billion to cover the deficit (currently at $39 billion).
Even the writers of "South Park" could not write a script with so much lunacy.
"Floating solutions to California's chronic budget crises is easy for those unconcerned with political or financial reality. The huge package of tax hikes proposed this week by a union-backed group fails on grounds of basic sense and practicality. But additional tax receipts would not close the deficit in political responsibility that caused the state's recurrent budget turmoil."--so we would still have a massive deficit.
Oh, the unions have plans to spend $40 billion--so the deficit will continue to grow, but on a larger base.
How about a $40 billion tax cut--and cut spending by the same amount. Return government to the basics and let families and businesses be prosperous.
California is in a generation long Depression--only tax cuts and freedom will save us. Unions have killed us, and now, with a $40 billion tax increase want to bury us.
