Senator Runner makes an important point. California already has laws against reckless driving.
"Make no mistake; there should be consequences for reckless driving. But, rather than micromanaging citizens by outlawing every possible form of distraction, lawmakers should look at things from a broader point of view.
Drivers who cause accidents need to be held accountable, plain and simple. Instead of giving out $20 tickets for texting, we should focus on current laws that already impose penalties for reckless driving."
Instead of creating laws outlawing eating a hamburger while driving, enforce our reckless driving laws.
The State has failing schools, bad roads, is $36 billion in deficit and $600 billion in debt. Time for Sacramento to fix our real problems instead of making believe they are working by looking at reckless driving--which is already illegal.
Thank you to Senator Runner for reminding his colleagues that they need to work on pressing problems, not irritants. This is why the legislature has less respect than used car sales people.
