Want to get rid of political parties? Want to INCREASE the cost of campaigns?
Then the Democrats and Abel Maldonado have a ballot measure for you. "The California law has already been changed to say that write-ins for Congress and state office in November should never be counted, but that law will not go into effect unless the voters vote for the top-two measure. Also, the new law would not permit members of unqualified parties to list their party preference on any ballot, so it does not treat all candidates equally."
Totalitarians would love this! A way to limit the candidates, a way to force candidates to spend DOUBLE in the primary--what a way to destroy Democracy.
Thanks for this mess go to Senator Abel Maldonado--who wanted this in exchange (is that legal) for his vote to raise your taxes.
Makes me proud of the Sacramento legislative system--a true loser.
