San Fran is really a dumb town, sorry Brian, Mike, Sheri and my other friends in this town without a lick of sense.
The deficit for the last fiscal year was over $400 million. The deficit fot eh upcoming year is placed at $394 million. But, they have enough money to waste on rich elitists and their sailboats.
"Hosting the America’s Cup sailing regatta on the bay is expected to cost San Francisco $128.3 million, the city’s budget analysts found.
If the San Francisco-based BMW Oracle Racing Team chooses San Francisco as the host city for the 34th America’s Cup, the event will take place over roughly 38 days of sailing from 2011 or 2012 to 2013.
In a first for the event, pre-regatta races could be hosted in a range of venues under a Formula One-style format before a final America’s Cup match is raced in the host country, team CEO Russell Coutts announced in September."
More jobs in San Fran will be lost to pay for this. More poor will be created in San Fran to pay for this.
It is amazing that the government of San Fran, a motley crew, is willing to spend $128 million, they do not have, on old rich white guys and their sport. This does prove that radicals and bigots do not hate old rich white people. Good for them. Of course the old rich white people should pay for this themselves.
