Every once in a while the Feds make the right decision.
"The hamlet of Lebec along I-5 in the Tehachapi Mountains south of Bakersfield will no longer be on Amtrak California’s bus service.
The community just doesn’t have enough train riders to justify stopping says Amtrak, which uses buses to fill in gaps in its rail service.
The California Department of Transportation subsidizes the Amtrak service – buses and trains – in the state."
Note that while folks are losing their homes and jobs, your tax dollars are financing a bus system run by a government train system.
"The Amtrak Thruway Bus program is required to be financially self-sufficient. Amtrak Thruway Buses still provide service to more than 175 destinations throughout California and Nevada."
In other words, California is breaking the law and no one seems to care. Any wonder we have a budget that starts with $20 billion in deficit?
