Government education is mostly a failure. Federal involvement is a total failure.

The employees and bureaucrats at Education have been rewarded for failure each year by ever-increasing budgets, which give them more control of state education departments and local school boards. If you reward failure, you tend to get more of it, and if you reward success, you tend to get more successes. Thus, it is no surprise that test scores have not improved."
The more we spend the less we get in the way of results. The "professionals" change strategies, theories, techniques, add oodles of money and what do they get? A government education system that those who run it consider grossly flawed.
Here is an idea--since the "professionals' have failed how about a market based technique. Give the parents voucher. Then allow them to home school, private school, charter school or even government school. The bad schools will have no students and the good schools will be over enrolled--than we get rid of the bad schools!
This is based on helping students, not the unions or other special interests.
Which is more important--quality education or union control of education--you can not have both. It is time for the Fed to save $107 billion per year--allow vouchers to save the money.
