In Santa Clara it is the businesses which create jobs vs. the unions which steal jobs and extort government workers.
"Santa Clara County voters are focused on fiscal issues, in light of the state’s continued financial struggles and San Jose’s $40 million deficit. To help combat the financial shortcomings, Reed is pushing two ballot initiatives that would affect city employees' retirement plans and the binding arbitration processes associated with union negotiations.
Measure V aims to limit firefighters' and police officers' influence in labor disputes, while Measure W would allow the city of San Jose to set lower pension benefits for new employees. According to the mayor’s office, the city's retirement fund is is currently $2 billion short, as retirement costs have tripled in the last 10 years.
In his bid to knock down labor’s influence, Reed has taken the unconventional step of backing Republican Larry Pegram, a social conservative, for the District 9 City Council seat."
What the Democrat Mayor of San Jose is saying is very clear. Republicans are fiscally responsible and Democrats, owned by unions, are the cause of the fiscal crisis.
In general, with the exception of Arnold and friends, Reed is right.
