San Fran has a budget deficit north of $400 million--in a couple of years it will be $1,000,000,000. Unions close the BART system on a whim. The DA is providing money for illegal aliens to beat deportation and the Mayor is sending illegal aliens drug dealers to San Bernardino to escape the Feds.
Yet the Board of Supervisors in SF have the time to concern themselves about creating competition for PG&E.
Worse, the city wants the new company to have a lower credit rating--in other words, a firm bound to fail--then the taxpayers will have to bail it out. Didn't the Left in San Franlearn from the housing bubble and crisis?
"Under San Francisco's proposed program, dubbed CleanPowerSF, PG&E's electricity customers could buy greener power from a competing organization, probably for a slight price premium.
CleanPowerSF customers would continue to receive their power bills from PG&E, but payments for electricity purchases would be passed on to the company's new competitor. PG&E would continue to charge for natural gas and for delivery of electricity through its power lines."
