Once again the unions have a gun to the head of the families of California..
"San Luis Obispo Rapid Transit Agency and its drivers have reached an impasse and will be meeting with a federal mediator on Oct. 7 in a last-ditch effort to avoid a strike, according to the leader of the drivers union.
Yes, if an offer comes out of the mediation, and we don’t recommend it, and the members vote it down, then a labor action is likely, said Lynn Swenson, secretary treasurer for Teamsters Local 381, the union representing the RTAs drivers. We’ve been negotiating for more than a year, and it has come to this.
A drivers strike could shut down the entire RTA bus system, which provides transportation for SLO County, and would leave the area without any public transportation linking the countys cities."
We pay for a government transportation system and unions control it. Give them what they want and the billions spent for government transportation will be controlled by an extortionist. Unions extort workers, pay a bribe or you do not work. Now, they are telling the public, pay us what we want or you will not have buses that you bought.
Obviously government/union run transportation system is a bad deal--stop voting for the bonds for these projects--instead demand they be sold to private interest, not continued to be held by the criminal interests.
