Bayer in Berkeley is laying off workers. Boeing in Long Beach shipped 300 jobs to Oklahoma. A Sacramento based mortgage company shipped 901 jobs to India and Uruguay.
Now, Northrop is laying off 500 jobs in Los Angeles--with more to come.
"The company announced in January that it would move from Century City to the East Coast in order to be closer to its military clients. In April, it said it had found a site in Arlington, Va.
The layoffs at Northrop's South Bay facilities come on top of roughly 360 corporate jobs already expected to be relocated or eliminated."
Northop is going from LA to Virginia--a state with a surplus, low taxes, responsible government and a Governor and legislature open for business, not the unions and other special interests.
For Northop this is a good deal. For California it should be yet another wake up call. Sadly, neither Arnold nor the Mayor of LA, Phony Tony really cares. They created this mess and seem to want to continue bad policies and high taxes.
