  • Should government Schools Accept Advertising or Close Programs

Government schools are closing music and arts programs. Class sizes are growing. Drop out rates are growing. Yet, when private firms are willing to advertise on campuses, to provide money for needed programs, the "professional educators" say NO.

"The San Diego Unified school board decided tonight not to use ads to reap more revenue for schools.

While parents in San Diego repeatedly raised the idea of using ads to raise money as budget cuts threatened schools last year, the side that recoiled at the thought of commercializing campuses won out.

"Public schools, like public parks, are part of the shrinking commercial-free space in public life," said Elena McCollim, the mother of a kindergartener in San Diego Unified schools. She added, "I sympathize with the need for money for schools. But I question what message we're sending to our children."

How about the message of being in a failed school--which is more important stopping subway from advertising or a music program? Educators and Liberals would rather pretend private enterprise did not exist that provide quality education for our children.

Which would you prefer, ads or lower quality education. Guess the "professionals" and the Liberals have made their decision.
