Fidel Castro is now the Tom McClintock of Cuba. He thinks the government is bloated and wants 500,000 government workers fired. This is unlike Arnold or Obama, who have grown government in the midst of economic collapse.
"The Cuban labour federation said more than a million workers would lose their jobs half of them by March next year.
Those laid off will be encouraged to become self-employed or join new private enterprises, on which some of the current restrictions will be eased.
Now, Cubas population is about 11 million, compared to 38 million for California. So if we follow Castros lead, the state government would fire more than 3 million workers at the state and local levels."
Not a bad idea--3,000,000 less government workers would mean millions of private sector jobs, a balanced budget and a government so small it would not intrude on our freedoms.
He announced today that the fired workers should drive taxi's, start small businesses and get real jobs! Sounds more like McClintock than Castro.
