  • More Major $$ Cuts: A Very Different School Year Ahead

For the past three years government schools have seen two trends.

First, massive cuts to their budgets. This has forced them to return to basic education, end some of the propaganda such as special days for "tolerance", peer to peer "counseling" (meaning the adults give students power to punish instead of being the adults at schools) and field trips with little education value.

Second, as the money available has gone down, the test results have gone up.

Is it possible that we have been spending too much? LAUSD, when EVERYTHING is counted, spends more than $30,000 per year per student--and they have a 60% drop out rate.

"As a result, school districts across San Diego County are forcing teachers and staff to take furlough days. That means a smaller paycheck for employees and a shorter school year for kids.

Many districts have also slashed their supply budgets, meaning no new materials and supplies. School communities are donating what they can.

Teacher Michelle Janette says her motto this year is reuse and recycle."

Frugal, fiscally responsible government education, what a concept!

The relocation will start as early as the spring of 2011 and should be wrapped up by the end of 2012.
