Our Governor needs to understand that Prop.19 has NOT passed yet. There is no other excuse for his erratic statements. In a few days the Controller will be issuing IOU's. Arnold has put most State employees on furlough for several days per month (they will get the money back when the courts rule this illegal, as they have most of his previous furlough attempts.) and government agencies are being closed for part of the month (has anyone noticed or cared?).
"Even though he says the state of California is losing $52 million per day during its budget impasse, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Wednesday there is no reason to call a special legislative session to solve the problem.....The governor said there should be no new taxes to help fill the California's $19 billion budget deficit. But Schwarzenegger said he doesn't want just spending cuts; he also wants fund shifts and federal funds to help solve the deficit.
He said it's time for Sacramento to "stop the insanity" and "live within its means."
What is he smoking? He is the one who demanded tens of billions of higher taxes in February 2009--and got them. Arnold is the one that created a special election to raise about $25 billion more in taxes, and lost BIG.
Maybe his lifestyle over the years has caused him short term memory loss. He signed budgets that created $140 billion in deficits in six years--yet he takes no blame for the California Great Depression.
