  • San Diego: High School Scores, Fewer Teachers, Less $$

It was not supposed to happen like this. The "professional" educators said that if we cut teachers and dollars to schools, the students would be harmed.

"More teens in San Diego County passed the high school exit exam this year than last, echoing a statewide trend of improving results on the high stakes tests.

The California exam is a big deal for teens: If high schoolers don't pass the exit exam, they don't get a regular diploma. This year, 85 percent of San Diego County high school sophomores who took the exam passed the math section and 83 percent passed the English section, a slight bump over results last year."

Is it possible we spend too much on education (LAUSD just opened ONE school that cost $587 million to build)?

Maybe because of the cutbacks schools had to go back to the basics--not a bad thing, good for students to get a better education and the parents not have their taxes raised so much.

Guess the unions are the only unhappy people at the table.
