  • Inland freeway work halted by crazy union strike

Jobs are scarce. Money is scarce. Homes are being foreclosed.

Unions do not care--they want. If they do not get it they throw a temper tantrum and strike. Others will lose their jobs, the cost of projects will go up, taxes will go up or other needed projects can not be funded.

Unions think they own every government agency and every corporation that does business with government.

"Striking workers and others said the dispute regarding the union's contract centers on mental and dental benefits. According to union members and friends, operators agreed to a $2 per hour pay cut in return for a $1 per hour contribution to medical and dental benefits. The union balked at the suggestion, they said.

Holsman said workers walked off the job two weeks ago after a settlement could not be reached on the contract, which expired June 30. Contractors then locked out the employees last week, Holsman said."

I do not know about the dental care--but the mental care benefit is obviously needed. Who in their right mind would walk off a job in the middle of a Depression. I am afraid of these folks coming back to work without a psychiatric approval.

Not sure what the problem is. These people walked off the job and refuse to work. In the real world that is called quitting. The contractors need to find workers who want to work, not just hold picket signs in between visits to the shrink.
