Several years ago Arnold had a proposal to reform the out of control government pension system. The unions spent millions killing it.
This year the Guv wants to have pension reform as part of the budget deal. The union owned legislative Democrats have told Arnold to go to hell--the unions would prefer NO budget to a budget that included saving the pension system
Now, San Fran has a ballot measure to save their government pension plan, and the unions are suing--they would prefer to bankrupt San Fran than save the pension system.
"A group of city-employee unions filed suit in Superior Court yesterday to keep Proposition B, Public Defender Jeff Adachi's pension and benefits measure, off the November ballot.
Proposition B would require current city employees to contribute more toward their pension and benefit costs. Adachi says that the measure will save the city $170 million annually, and that it is necessary to stave off these costs claiming a painfully large share of the city's budget.
The unions have been arguing that Prop. B places too heavy a burden on the personal finances of city employees. In their new lawsuit, the unions charge that Prop. B was improperly and deceptively drafted and ask that a judge order city Director of Elections John Arntz to keep Prop. B off the November ballot."
The good news is that if the unions win this battle, the city goes bankrupt. That may actually kill the unions when a judge comes in and ends the corrupt sweetheart union/city agreements. Maybe even criminal indictments could happen.
Either way, San Fran is going bankrupt. It is time to be honest and admit the radical government is a killer.
