Obama and his spending kids, Congressional Democrats are going to throw more than $10 billion, of the $26 billion new "stimulus” (debt) bill to keep "100,000" teachers from losing their jobs.
"Teachers unions, members of Congress, and the Obama administration claim that the $10 billion public-education bailout would save 100,000 teaching jobs. That means taxpayers will be paying $100,000 per job nearly double the national average for teacher salary, $54,000. Moreover, the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that about 57 percent of teachers are unionized. Using a conservative estimate of $300 in annual dues paid, the NEA and AFT have a minimum of $24 million in dues at stake."
Oh, when passed, and if were accurate, this gives the unions $24 million to spend on electing Obama’s Democrats to office, to provide more dues money through the taxpayers. Remember all these teachers must pay a bribe if they want to work. In the real world extortion gets you a jail sentence, not a good seat at an Obama fund raiser.
Then you have the loss of teachers. Actually, that is a lie. This is about LAUSD, "In an interesting turn of events, on June 17th -- a mere seven days after bemoaning the swan song of Measure E -- LAUSD employment news proclaims that almost 2,500 jobs were saved. It appears that trimming the fat off the budget and having workers agree to furloughs served the greater good, even without a raise in taxes on an already cash-strapped electorate. On the chopping block now: 682 LAUSD jobs." Most of the 682 are janitors and non teachers--and even this number will be reduced.
Note the date, June 17--almost two months before San Fran Nan decided to give your money to the unions.
Fraud, incompetence, waste, all of the above are the reasons we are in this mess. If LAUSD could cut back, why can't everyone else.
This "bailout" money for government schools is meant to bailout unions, not support the educational needs of the students. How to resolve? Stop the Feds from interfering. Force districts to allow charter schools, which are run more efficiently, and the teachers decide if they want to belong to a union, not forced to join.
