There are those who believe the future is not absentee voting (in the June primary over 57% of the votes cast were done by Absentee Ballot) but in voting by PDA (maybe your blackberry) or on the Internet.

Everyone Counts, Inc. provides secure voting software for troops overseas and Americans abroad. The software is available for use on personal computers, telephones and personal digital assistants (PDAs).
The companies technology has been used by voters in states such as West Virginia and Hawaii, an experience it hopes to bring to California in time for the November election."
I really love the idea, until I realize how easy it would be for radical Progressives to create fraud in the process. In Fresno, an agent of SEIU has been indicted for vote fraud--in more than a dozen states ACORN or SEIU agents have been found guilty of massive vote and voter registration fraud.
Having this technology means that someone can be sipping coffee at the neighborhood Starbucks and voting at often as they want. All they have to do is wait till 7:55pm, five minutes before the polls close, then cast computer votes for those who have not voted. That is one way to "game" the system.
Voter fraud can be made easier by using computers.
