The title of this article, "Would open-carry ban boost concealed weapons permits?" misses the point.
Oakland has fired 10% of its police force. Stockton just fired 26 police officers. Other cities are doing the same. Instead of cutting back on special interest spending, government is cutting back on law enforcement.
When seconds count, the police are minutes away.
That is why folks are demanding concealed weapon permits--they do not want to be victims of incompetent government. Notice that in the last few years the number of police have declined, yet the crime rate has also declined, especially crimes like burglaries, etc. At the same time the number of privately owned guns has dramatically been raised. Could it be the crooks are afraid of honest citizens shooting back?
