News of the Day: After speaking to numerous legislators and staffers, there is much discussion in the Capitol--about how to get bank loans when the State is really, really broke. As of May, the State has been paying bills with borrowed and stolen money ($12 billion stolen from Trust Funds alone) to keep the doors open.
On the other hand, legislators and the Governor are busy issuing press releases and statements. It is time to lock them up in one room, without food drink or a bathroom and give us a budget. Today they are 23 days late. My guess is that this will last till after the November 2 election--then you might see quick action.
At least one member, Assemblyman Martin Garrick is reminding us about the cost of State Government--and the millions of California not contributing, because they have no jobs.
We needs cuts, we need to end the stranglehold of the unions and other special interests on government. Maybe the best answer is to declare insolvency and let the State be run by a Trustee, instead of the Governor and Democrats?
Oh, the 25 to 1 ratio does NOT include the cost of county, school district or city employees to the taxpayers.
Six months and counting.
