Arnold doesn't want results--he wants headlines.
Arnold was the author of the largest tax increase on world history for a State. Arnold was the promoter of the bill AB 32 which assures businesses leave the State and joblessness stays at a real rate of about 20%.
Arnold is fond of silly statements, "Girly Man", for instance.
What are the results of these headlines? In five years he has given us a total of $140 billion in deficits, about doubled the unemployment in the State, and allowed the debt to zoom to over $800 billion. He may also hold the record for losing the most lawsuits for a Governor--all based on illegal actions to "save" money or steal from Trust Funds.
Now he is trying to do the right thing, but like the kid who cried "wolf" too often, no one is listening to him. In fact, his approval rating is 22%, the same as Gray Davis had when he was overwhelmingly Recalled from office, by Arnold.
"In his most recent weekly radio address, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced proposals to eliminate the office of State Superintendent of Public Instruction and to reconsider the roles of the Board of Equalization and Franchise Tax Board as budget saving measures. Although the ideas aren’t new, his suggestions ignited a new debate Tuesday afternoon.
In California we elect a Superintendent of Public Instruction, but why? he asked. We already have a Secretary of Education and State Board of Education. Why do we need a Superintendent of Education?”
Too bad, this is a good idea--but few listen to him and even fewer trust his judgment.
