  • Cash-strapped Long Beach seeks to tax marijuana

Did you know that marijuana, legally sold, does not have a tax on it?

Cigarettes have $4-5dollars of tax, and a drug has none! Why not?

"Long Beach could join several other California cities in seeking to boost city coffers by taxing marijuana.

The City Council on Tuesday will consider a proposal to place a measure on the November ballot that would levy a 5% tax on medical marijuana collectives."

How about a 15% tax, statewide--that would help with the deficit. In November we will have a ballot measure to legalize marijuana, for everybody, and that includes a 10% tax--maybe we should tax marijuana like we tax cigarettes--that might even cut the use of the drug. of course, if we did that, marijuana will continue to be sold secretly, and NO revenues will happen.

Government does know how to mess up, doesn't it?
