In the last three years, the Fresno Unified school district has lost 3,000--even with the influx of illegal aliens.
So, instead of cutting back, closing schools, they are using tax dollars to poach students from other school districts.
Why has this happened? Parents want a better education for their children. "Fresno Unified has seen its enrollment decline in recent years because of more charter schools within its boundaries and also because students have transferred to adjacent districts."
Yup, quality charter schools always get the students, while the failed regular government schools keep the illegal aliens, the unionized teachers teachers and the corrupt school board.
Why do schools not have enough money? Because they waste it on marketing programs to steal students from other failed districts.
Oak Park in Ventura County did this. It is a VERY good district. They got so many students from outside the district; they had to raise taxes to pay for it. The local parents actually voted higher taxes on themselves, so they could educate the kids from Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Moorpark.
Government education needs a dose of reality. If they have enough money for marketing plans to steal students, they have more than enough money to give our children a quality education.
