  • San Jose to Surrender to Unions: Big Loss for Jobs/Families

San Jose government is confusing, economically illiterate and unable to cut the strings with destabilizing unions.

The city has a massive debt and deficit ($118 million and growing). They are going to "cut" (not hire to fill vacant positions on the police force) 92 cops.

They were planning to actually fire 70 police officers--that would mean real cuts in the deficits. But, the cops agreed to a 5%, instead of 10% cut in pay, for a year. Now, no cuts. But, the deficit will grow and next year, with even less revenues, and higher costs, they will have to cut even more police, maybe closer to 100.

Not a good decision for the long term. A better one would be to stop collecting bribes for the unions. Maybe getting rid of the monopoly unions--stop forcing workers to pay bribes in order to work.

Out sourcing is a good answer. Stop trying to spend tax dollars on a football stadium--which should San Jose have, cops or a stadium?

Bad decisions, all around, is the problem. Stop being stupid. Protect the citizens, not the corrupt unions.
