  • Shorter School Year, Fewer Schools--Does Education Quality Change?

Government schools teach "proper" eating, how not to be bullied, gives students lesson in how the world is collapsing due to cars and work, etc. When they get a chance, they educate. Maybe this is why the State drop out rate is approaching 40%--and LAUSD is at 60%, per Education Week.

"As part of the package of cuts for the coming school year, the board is expected to end the year one week earlier than originally planned. Budget cuts will also mean fewer counselors for middle and high school students, fewer adult school courses and less money for textbooks, special education services, school maintenance and teacher training."

So, does it matter if schools have five fewer days? Not to the drop outs--not to those forced to stay in a class room, not to good students--they will always get the education they need.

Maybe if they learned how to stop the bullying of the unions, money would be available for education. Maybe if they learned that obeying the law was the way to go, instead of using the schools as detention facilities for illegal aliens, money would be available for honest students.

It is time for government education to return to education and allow the politicians to be the class that misrepresents and wastes time.
