San Francisco has a $483 million deficit, and growing. Instead of creating incentives for business and tourists, it is making itself even more expensive.
"Pet owners in San Francisco who want the city to euthanize their cat or dog may soon have to pay $25 for the service that now is free.
Drivers at fault in an accident may for the first time face a charge from the Fire Department to clean up things like broken glass and spilled gasoline.
Faced with a staggering $483 million budget deficit heading into the new fiscal year, Mayor Gavin Newsom and his department administrators hope to plug part of the gap with fees - by imposing new ones and increasing those already on the books."
The bottom line: When poor owners of dogs have their pets die, the dead dogs will be thrown out with the trash. When they are sick and need to be euthanized? The dogs will be put out on the streets to die.
San Fran is a dysfunctional city with leaders that only think about spending money, not the consequences of its actions and policies.
New and higher fees! "The Fire Department wants to charge up to $498 to clean a crash scene. The bill could be higher if the work takes more than an hour. Under the proposal, only the driver found at fault would be on the hook and presumably the cost could be passed on to an insurance company.
The Fire Department, which operates the city's paramedic services, also plans to charge more for providing treatment and transport to the hospital. The cost of basic life support and an ambulance ride would go up $184, to $1,642, if the Board of Supervisors signs off on the proposal. Treatment at the scene without a trip to the hospital would rise by $15, to $365."
The bigger question is where does the tax money go? Oh, that is right, this is a union owned town--the unions take the money.
San Fran is a town you can't afford to live in or have a car accident or heart attack in. Gavin Newsom is so proud!
