  • June 8: The Sound of Voter Silence

    Are elections dead in California?

""The real story of the Tuesday elections, it seems to me, is that voters have given up on believing in democracy under Californias current electoral system. Seventy-five percent of Californias voters12,749,727 of them, twelve times the number who voted for Meg Whitman, six times the number who voted for Prop 14kissed off the election."

Two messages from the June 8 event. First, those that did vote are angry.

the second message is that folks do not believe any candidate or office holder will make a difference or that there is a difference between them.

Why vote for Angelides or Arnold--both would raise taxes. Now the people know that. They trust neither the GOP nor the Democrats. That is why Prop. 14 passed--the political parties, as evidenced by the February 2009 tax increases, led by a "Republican", voted for by Democrats AND GOP'ers, are not to be believed. Yes, you can believe Tom McClintock, but who else has a reputation for fiscal responsibility and carries through on it? Maybe DeVore--but neither can win a statewide election.

So, November should be interesting. I believe we will have a large turnout--and it will be mostly angry people. Be prepared for a bloodbath at the polling booth.
