The LA Times thinks that bigger government programs means helping the poor. "Proposing a budget that would eliminate the state's welfare-to-work program and most child care for the poor, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday outlined a stark vision of a California that would sharply limit aid to some of its poorest and neediest citizens."
Actually his policies of bankrupting the State, debt and deficit, is what is harming the poor. His policy of killing jobs through AB 32 is what is harming the poor.
Arnold, a very rich man, thinks high taxes and job killing policies is good for California. In fact, his policies are good only for the rich and the illegal aliens.
Again the LA Times misses the point--paragraph by paragraph it talks about cut backs to corrupt and wasteful government programs--not about the policies that caused the collapse of Sate and local government.
"Narcotic treatment programs for roughly 160,000 Medi-Cal patients would be eliminated to save the state $53.4 million. And state money for county mental health programs would drop 60%." Yet, the Democrats in the Assembly this past week voted to use your tax dollars to provide food stamps to convicted drug dealers.
Do not expect a budget till labor Day (two months past the legal date for a budget.
Oh, note the Governor wants to again steal gas tax money--and create a statewide network of red-light camera's to get more revenues. "The governor is proposing to borrow $1.2 billion in gas tax revenue and other transportation-related funds to help balance the budget. He has also revived a plan to raise more than $200 million by installing automated cameras at red-light intersections to ticket speeding drivers."
The approved budget will be a phony as a detective story on TV--fun to watch, but no reality.
