Obama is happy that 290,000 people found jobs last month--but fails to mention 66,000 were temporary Census jobs--and tens of thousands were government jobs. Still the White House is proud that the national unemployment rate is “only" 9.9%.
Of course that is a lie. The real national unemployment rate is stated at 17.1%--a growth from the previous month--while the real unemployment rate is north of 20%. "That's good news, but that said, a truer measure of U.S. unemployment also increased last month. If you also include all of the people who are still discouraged and all of those who want to work full time but can find only part-time work, that unemployment rate in April was 17.1 percent, a rate that has increased since the beginning of the year and is approaching its all-time high of 17.4 percent, hit in October."
These are real people. "In January, Labor reported that 8.3 million Americans were working part time for economic reasons, meaning they could not find full-time work. That number increased to 8.8 million in February, 9.1 million in March and 9.2 million in April.
The number of discouraged non-employed Americans in April was 1.2 percent, up from 1.1 million in January."
We deserve honesty from our government, not the demonizing of the productive, higher taxes and polices that kill jobs.
A smile from the President that we "have turned the corner" is not enough for the millions who have lost jobs under his leadership.
California unemployment could hit 13% this month, between Arnold, AB 32, higher State taxes, and Obama, are economy is collapsing. But the politicians in charge continue to smile.
