How did California spend the Federal stimulus money, to create permanent jobs?
1. "The board of directors retreat at a luxury casino: $8,300. The price tag for their bottled water: $2,300. And lets not forget their facial tissue: $460."
2. "The report also found the University of California, San Diego, will use $233,825 to send five students to Africa to investigate why Africans vote the way they do in their elections."
3. "Numerous cases of inflated and under reported job tallies have surfaced and government watchdogs have raised concerns about large corporations obtaining tens of millions of dollars despite previous environmental violations and allegations of fraud."
4. "found funds targeted for the Napa Valley Wine Train, Shakespeare Festival/LA, Monterey Jazz Festival, beautification of the Sunset Strip and the Hollywood Entertainment Museum."
This, after a report was released yesterday showing that 47% of Americans pay NO Income Taxes AT ALL. See story here.
"So far, California has spent about $20 billion of the $85 billion it is slated to receive the most of any state in the nation." With all this extra money, the California economy is still tanking. Even if the other $65 billion is spent, lots will be wasted, either directly, through use of union only projects or through bad projects that are just make work, for the privileged few.
Giving government money is like giving a teenager money and shipping the kid off to a mall with other teens.
How much more evidence do you need to prove that government has too much money? $2300 for bottled water--while the Feds have shut off the water to our farmers and families.
Remember this on November 2.
