Sometimes you can read a long article and not note the real story. This is what this group, formed by a Democrat State Senator is about.
"A nonprofit organization aimed at keeping Hollywood film production in California isn't getting much support from the very groups it would try to help: local unions and other workers in the state.
The Bring Hollywood Home Foundation has begun an aggressive fundraising drive for an expensive media campaign to convince voters and lawmakers of the film industry's economic importance."
Sounds like an advocacy group supposed to promote Hollywood. But, that is a lie--this is a highly political,probably radical--definitely for the Democrat Party.
"The foundation has drawn up an ambitious five-year plan for hosting a variety of fundraisers, polling the public about the film industry, conducting political education and public service advertising campaigns, lobbying elected officials and sponsoring California film festivals." But, what is the REAL goal?
"The studios' trade group, the Motion Picture Assn. of America, questioned the need for Bring Hollywood Home's proposed voter-education drive, Jimenez said."
This is a political operation, not one for the film industry, but for Democrats. I should note that I know BOTH Sharon and Bob Jimenez.
Senator Calderon is apolitical animal--why does money need to be raised to tell the people of California that the film industry is important? That is a joke. This is a backdoor effort to promote Calderon and the Democrat Party--and he should be honest about it--that is why folks arer not supporting it--they do not want to be involved in a massive scandal--and a scandal will happen.
Shame on my friends and Democrat Calderon for not being honest about their intentions. This needs to be filed with the FPPC, and donations reported as political donations--to be honest.
