"California schools need to keep effective teachers and banish poor instructors, but state law often hinders that process. The Legislature should support the governor's effort to make key changes in those rules. More sensible teacher layoff and dismissal policies are not a panacea for schools, but they would strengthen public education."
Union agreements force school districts to fire good teachers and keep bad teachers, based on "seniority".
We need to end tenure for teachers--bad teachers no matter how long they have been in the classroom, or how much they bribe the union, should go.
Union agreements that determine the "order" of firing must be outlawed.
Those school board members that continue to vote to keep bad teachers need to be defeated at the polls.
