It has been said that those who give up freedom for temporary safety, get neither.

A few years ago I brought a "P-38" (an Army can opener) that I have had since 1968 from my tour of duty in Viet Nam with me on vacation in Hawaii. It was on my key chain. The TSA folks in Los Angeles (and many other airports) had no problem with it. But, coming back from Hawaii, the TSA took it from me and treated me as if I were a terrorist.

The child, who was born 16 weeks premature, is developmentally delayed and has malformed ankles, was forced to remove his leg braces and walk through the metal detector on his own something that he was just learning to do. He managed to make it through. The father, understandably upset, confronted a supervisor who turned and walked away. A local police officer approached and told the father he should calm down and enjoy his vacation. When a reporter asked a TSA spokesperson how such a thing could happen the TSA representative said the boy should never have been made to remove his braces, he should have just been taken to a screening room and had his braces swabbed for explosives instead. Government is out of control--and we allow it. At some point we need to tell government and its agents to use common sense and stop stealing our freedoms. We allow illegal aliens, terrorists and drug dealers to sneak into this nation on its southern borders, without any problems. We have people working in the White House AND Justice Department that defend terrorists. Yet, free citizens are treated like dirt by the U.S. government.
It is time to get our Constitutional rights back. What do you think?
