Temecula is showing the way to the next generation of education--150 layoffs. San Fran is planning on 900 layoffs. The school district in Thousand Oaks is looking at nine furlough days (no schooldays) over two years.
"According to district policy, teachers will be let go based on seniority. A point system will be used to break ties between employees with the same experience, looking at qualifications such as type of teaching credential, education and authorization to teach English learners. Ultimately, a lottery is used if ties cannot be broken."
In other words, it is policy of the district to let good teachers go while keeping bad teachers--seniority, not quality is used to determine who stays and who goes.
Now you know why government schools fail--they prefer union control, then quality teachers.
