How corrupt is the SEIU? Why are the elected officials in Contra Costa County using their taxpayers’ money to bail out a failed and corrupt SEIU NATIONAL pension plan?
"The money isn't administered by the county pension program because the in-home workers are not technically county employees. Rather, the funds go into a retirement plan run by the union in Washington, D.C., and are pooled with money from other employers across the country whose workers are probably more likely to be career employees. In other words, it would seem that the other workers are more likely to put in the five years' work needed to vest in the pension plan and later collect retirement payments.
If that's true, it would mean that Contra Costa is subsidizing the other employers in the plan. But union and county officials could not tell me how much, or if, the county is losing to other employers who participate in the plan. They couldn't tell me whether the county is paying more than its fair share."
Worse, the Contra Costa officials are hiding the dollar amounts, the number of individuals involved and more from the public.
Corruption has many faces, this is one of them. Obviously Contra Costa County does not need more taxes, or a State or Federal bailout.
Get angry or get poor.
