  • LAUSD Protects Bad Tenured Teachers

"The Times found that nearly all probationary teachers received passing grades on their evaluations and that fewer than 2% were denied tenure. Over the last four years, the school board has denied tenure to an average of 35 teachers annually." The most important question the Times does not answer: how many of these teachers denied tenure are bad teachers and should be working for the DMV instead of being in a classroom.

These are good time for LAUSD to use "funding" as an excuse to stop tenure for bad teachers.

Another question the article does not note: How many students has the district lost, meaning the need for fewer teachers anyway?

Finally, missing in the equation is the most important question: Why does the district allow tenure to protect bad teachers--those teachers,5,10 or 15 years.

Answer? Union rules prevent getting rid of bad tenured teachers.

The losers are our children and the winner is an organization that demands bribes from workers.

Shame on us for allowing this.
