  • More Water Problems for California

We have the delta smelt killing our water supply, courtesy of a Federal judge.

Now the another judge has decided to further tighten the reins on Californians and kill the Salton Sea. "A state judge has overturned a celebrated 2003 deal governing the state's use of Colorado River water supplies, a ruling that could tilt the equation for how Southern California's farms and cities share the scarce resource."

This will affect the Salton Sea, but also farming in the Coachella Valley. "The 2003 agreement put California on a schedule to wean itself from surplus deliveries of Colorado River water. Years in the making, the pact created a multibillion-dollar transfer of Imperial Valley irrigation water to San Diego and the Coachella Valley and also called for the restoration of the ailing Salton Sea."

Farmers are dying, workers going hungry--but judges and attorneys, thanks to environmentalists, are having a banner year. This will add to the cost of food goods--so even the poor will be harmed by this judge.
