  • LA Times Openly Opposes Better Government Schools

Private interests have donated millions so LAUSD can have the best personnel--not just those approved by the unions.

Now the Times has decided union approved personnel is better than those who know what they are doing. (If you think the current leadership of LAUSD is competent, then why does the District have an over 50% dropout rate)

Why does the LA Times demand mediocrity from LAUSD? "Outside entities that pour money into education tend to have a view of reform that favors charter schools (as the Broad and Wasserman foundations do), stiffer curriculum standards, weakened teachers unions and more testing. As much as we often agree with that view, public schools -- which are responsible for using public money wisely and are accountable to voters -- must set their own goals."

In other words they do not want the union control challenged by those that represents parents, students and the community.

Note that the Times is bankrupt--now you know why.
