The current Depression is actually a good thing for California. The Governors budget is going to take a few billion from local governments. The sales tax revenue drop of 14% is causing local government to cut back on the frills of government. Now the locals need to end sweetheart deals, sell the stadiums and other frills that government wastes public money on.
This is a good time for local government to clear its books and get back to the basics.
