The Trustees of the Kern High School District turned down the proposed charter school to be named after President Barack Obama. But the words used to disallow the charter remind me of the words used to describe his Administration.
"Board members commented that the petition was inherently weak, fiscally irresponsible, "ill conceived," "not feasible," and "not thought through." District staff outlined its findings and analysis in a 15-page report."
Trustee Chad Vegas said he wasn't concerned with the name of the school, and would reject it even if it were named after Jesus Christ." Vegas is a Christian minister!
Those behind the new school just don't get it. "A lot of work went into preparing the petition, Miller said. To indicate that it's not up to par is absurd. Any reasonable person that has any form of intelligence can see that it was put together professionally. The question is not whether a proposal is "professional" done, but if it makes educational sense...Miller could NOT argue that point.
I did get a good laugh--the Barack H. Obama Leadership Academy--will they teach the totalitarian method of governing? Will they teach that tax cheats, crooks and crazy radicals are "leadership"? Almost as funny as a Nobel Peace prize for a guy apologizing for terrorists.
