The SEIU, the openly corrupt and radical union (in places around the country they share office space with the equally corrupt ACORN) own the Public Defenders in Fresno--want to be a public defender in Fresno, you must pay a bribe.
Yet even bribe paying no longer guarantees a job. You would think attorneys would be more careful. Oh, well, they did it to themselves.
The good news is that this department will have a balanced budget, while the SEIU will have less money to "donate" to politicians.
