The same people who run the Post Office, are now running General Motors. The Post Office lost $3.8 billion last year--that is money lost to the elderly, the students and public safety--but given for premium pay for bribe paying members of an openly corrupt unions(forcing people to pay bribes in order to work in the real world is corruption, punished by government. In this case the corruption is supported and protected by government.)
In a world of texting, email, UPS, FedEx and computer tele-conferencing, the Post Office is the modern day equivalent of the buggy whip.
In 1964 a young man by the name of Dana Rohrabacher taught me about Lysander Spooner. Starting in 1943, he tried to end the postal monopoly by government and force the sale of the U.S. Post Office. See the story here.
"The postal service receives no tax money -- it's required by law to raise enough revenue to cover its costs. Federal law also says the agency can borrow up to $3 billion a year from the Treasury Department, but its total debt can't top $15 billion.
The postal service now owes Uncle Sam about $10.2 billion. It's going to max out its credit card very soon.
For 2010, the postal service is already estimating that it could lose nearly $8 billion and deliver 11 billion fewer pieces of mail."
As we all know, congress can increase the loan amount to, say, $100 billion--money means nothing to Obama and his band of radicals. Especially since the increased loans is actually going to the corrupt unions that finance their political activities.
Sell the Post Office. Stop your tax dollars from subsidizing a car company, sell Government Motors. Time for fiscal responsibility to visit government. Make this the Obama New Years' Resolution--for him.
