  • Water Rates Going Up by Double Digits in California

The water rates in Simi Valley are going up between 7-26% In Los Angeles, the water rates will be going up approximately 21%.

Encinitas, the water rate is going up 13%, the second increase in two years.

"Recently, San Diego County Water Authority, which supplies most of the region's water, has been increasing its prices in response to state drought conditions and environmental restrictions. That's caused a ripple rate increase effect through the county."

Thanks to the Environmental Defense Fund, in 2007, suing to protect the delta smelt, water rates have skyrocketed. This is at the same time and the same organization that Meg Whitman decided to donate $300,000 to, to protect the delta smelt.

Now all Californians are paying for that donation and that lawsuit. When you pay your water bill, or pay higher costs for food, or will the unemployment numbers go up, remember those responsible.
