  • Local school districts wary of 'Race to the Top' initiative

"Under the Obama administration's guidelines, in addition to prompting legislative education reforms required for states to compete, Race to the Top calls on local agencies to voluntarily partner with the state by signing an agreement to implement reforms. The agreements need to be returned to the state by Jan. 8. The short time frame is necessary to deliver the full application by its federal due date of Jan. 19."

The legislature still has not passed the bill needed for California school districts to apply for this Federal money. In 27 days the applications are due.

The good news is that if we don't pass the legislation, our schools will have less Federal interference.

One man, Obama, has decided how your school district must be run to "qualify" to apply for this money. Look what he has done for mortgages, banks and jobs--maybe the dysfunction of Sacramento is a good thing.
