"We estimate that the initial annual revenue loss to the California Children and Families First Fund (Proposition 10), which is not protected by a backfill provision, would be about $45 million annually," the LAO reported Wednesday.
Friedman's budget would decline about 11 percent, he said, meaning cuts in the number of young children getting high-quality preschool, home visits, health care, dental screenings and education, and special-needs services. He said First 5 has always considered Perata and the proposed measure's institutional backers the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association close allies, and he hopes they'll reconsider."
