After the Civil Rights movements effort schools in the South were desegregated. In the North, schools, that were NOT segregated--like those in Los Angeles, still were forced to spend billions on busing to force students to sit next to one another. Then they became segregated
Now LAUSD has reverted back to the days of the Old South. The segregation is by sex, not race. "David Brewer, L.A. Unified's former superintendent, pushed the idea of a single-sex school in the nation's second largest school system. Brewer expressed concern that young boys, particularly blacks and Latinos, were falling through the cracks in public education.
But single-sex schools face criticism from such groups as the National Organization for Women and the American Civil Liberties Union, which recently filed a lawsuit against schools in Kentucky and Louisiana."
He is right, boys are falling through the cracks. But, so are the girls. Bad curriculum and union controlled classrooms are not made better by instituting segregation. This is just silly. This is not a fix, but a statement of bigotry.
Boys are not capable of learning in a class with girls. Girls can never learn with boys in the class. Yup, the same jerks said blacks could not learn in a classroom filled with whites--and whites would be "uncomfortable if blacks were in the classroom.
Bigotry is bigotry, and LAUSD is leading the way, as usual.
