Nice to know things, but at a time when the UC and CSU system are dramatically cutting classes, can we afford ethnic studies that lead to no where in the job market or creating a better society? Folks should study what they want, but not at taxpayers expense.
My friend Frank Ricchiazzi presents an interesting question, can the Afro-American, Native American or Hispanic communities be better helped if you get a degree in ethnic studies or economics?
"What percentage of graduates have degrees in something that will be a benefit to our country and its system of earning a living?
How many students will get a degree in Chicano, African or Woman Studies? And what will they do with that?"
Society is harmed when educators do not educate for the future. Do you agree with Ricchiazzi?
