  • SF Chronicle Severely Underestimates Budget Deficit

The Governor admits the budget deficit to be $14 billion--now. Sacramento admits the deficit next year could be $25 billion. But the San Fran Chronicle claims the numbers are $12 and higher next year

Of course we know the government has been lying to us for years as to what the deficits will be. The Chronicle is REALLY lying to us. Now you know why the Chronicle is losing readers faster than the Oakland Raiders can lose games.

This is why newspapers have lost their credibility and trust. We all know the deficit is larger, so why lie about it? Buried deep in the story is the answer.

"Schwarzenegger and the Legislature, who only a week ago produced a breakthrough agreement on solving the state's water crisis, must devote the same energy and bipartisanship in California's finances.

Even the remarkable water pact could easily collapse if the state's staggering financial problems aren't solved. That's because the deal depends on a $11 billion bond measure on the ballot next November, when the voters may be in no mood to endorse the borrowing."

The Governor wants to borrow even more money, though this is for a "good" cause--water. He wants a $22 billion water bond--how much new water does it guarantee? Not a drop. But the bond will pay $20 million for an animal corridor in Ventura County. ($22 billion is principal plus interest--staring in 2015 this will add $700 million PER year to the budget to pay off)
